The Homer Martin Ranch, found in the heart of the Texas Hill Country, is an easy drive from any of the major Texas cities. We’re only two hours away from either San Antonio or Austin, and there’re a few locations we’d like to recommend stopping at along the way. If you’re passing through Fredericksburg, try some German bratwurst or knackwurst at one of the many restaurants located along Main Street, the city’s main thoroughfare. If you have the chance, stop at The Fredericksburg Brewery, where they’re brewing lagers and ales everyday. You’ll be driving straight through town, so we promise good food won’t be hard to find.
- From Houston or San Antonio
- Take I-10 West to Comfort, then US 87 North to Mason.
- From Austin
- Take TX 71 West to Llano, then TX 29 West to Mason. When entering Mason, you will come to the historic square located in the center of town. Follow signs to US 87 North.
- From Dallas
- Take I-35 South to Georgetown then TX 29 West to Mason. When entering Mason, you will come to the historic square located in the center of town. Follow signs to US 87 North.
Alrighty then, once we all manage to get to that point, from US 87 at the southern Mason city limits, veer right onto Ranch Road 1723, otherwise known as Simonsville Road. If you leave Mason City limits or pass the golf course, you’ve gone too far. Follow this scenic road for 9 miles. When you cross the Llano River, continue for ½ mile until you see the ranch entrance on the right-hand side. Look for a two story yellow brick house, home to the Martin family.
As you pull onto the property, follow the ranch signs to the Camp. It should be straightforward. You’ll cross two cattle guards, and two creek crossings, wind around a bend, where soon you’ll find yourself at your desired destination. Just follow the signs. If you have any problems give us a call, we’ll be here to welcome you!
